On January 1, 2002, Lothar Dieterich took up office as General Manager of the German Atomic Forum. Dieterich, who is 63, will officiate in this function until a final solution has been found with regard to who will succeed former General Manager Dr. Peter Haug. Dieterich is now also provisionally in charge of conducting the businesses of the German Nuclear Society (KTG) and the Inforum publishing and administration company.
Between 1992 and 1998, Dieterich was Director of the Mülheim-Kärlich nuclear power plant owned by the RWE group.
Dr. Haug held the position for 25 years. In August 2001, he was elected new Secretary General of FORATOM, the umbrella organisation of European atomic fora in Brussels. Since October 2001 Dr. Haug has also been Secretary General of the European Nuclear Society (ENS) in Brussels.
